Attosecond Spin-Orbit Spectroscopy
I use simulated High Harmonic Spectroscopy (HHS) to investigate relativistic interactions between electrons in an atom as it undergoes a Harmonic Generation process, driven by an intense laser field.
For this, I use R-Matrix with Time-dependence (RMT) – a supercomputer code developed in QUB to model processes that occur on an attosecond timescale (1as = 10-18s) within a single atom/molecule as it is irradiated by a laser.
Additionally, to investigating relativistic interactions with RMT, I contribute to the development of the RMT codebase – improving its capabilities to model physical processes and improving its computational and mathematical structure in order to run more efficiently and accurately.
Biography
I grew up in Portstewart, and went to school at Loreto College Coleraine.
I studied an Msci in Maths here in QUB for my undergraduate, focusing on applied maths, and I did my masters project on “Computational Methods for Ultrafast Quantum Processes” – within the same research group that I’m in now.
In my free time I enjoy reading, board games, learning Irish, pier jumping, and writing open-source software.
