Current Research Project: Using Data Analytics to Design Innovative Clinical Trials in Respiratory Disease
Testing new drugs can be made difficult due to the expense and complexity of clinical research. In recent years, it is beginning to be seen that existing datasets from earlier trials or similar research can be used to help design future clinical trials.
Machine Learning, Deep Learning tools and the newer addition of advanced AI will be able to aid with analysing existing datasets at a faster pace than would have been possible in previously. The aim of this project is to use these techniques to design trials for respiratory diseases, especially those with no currently known cure, such as Bronchiectasis.
Biography:
I studied my undergraduate degree in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Galway, where I discovered a love of statistics. I focused on applied statistics and biostatistics and completed a final year project using statistical techniques to assess risk of TB in different subgroups of the population. I graduated in August 2023 with First Class Honours and started my PhD in Queens’s in October 2023.
