Location
The School of Maths and Physics is located around the main Lanyon site.
The School teaching rooms can usually be found in three main locations on the University's main site:
The Maths and Physics Teaching Centre (MAPTC)
Most of the the teaching for the incoming academic year will take place in the Maths and Physics Teaching Centre (MAPTC), which sits in front of the McClay library. There are 2 lecture theatres and a number of teaching rooms on the ground floor. The Laboratories are also situated here, the first and second level labs are housed on the top floor of the building whilst the advanced Laboratories are on the first floor. Many of our computer based classes will be taught in the first floor Computing Suite, which caters for 80 students.
The Physics Building
This building houses the IRCEP International Research Centre for Experimental Physics and two lecture theatres, the Larmor on the ground floor, the Bell on the first floor. Technical staff are also located in this building.
Old Physics Building
Found on the South side of the quadrangle, the Old Physics Building houses most of the staff offices for Mathematics. Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Theoretical Physics occupy the first floor; Statistics and Operational Research occupy the ground floor.
The Emeleus lecture theatre is adjoined to the Old Physics Building, it is best accessed via the archway leading from the quad.
