A multidisciplinary team from QUB has been announced as winners of the prestigious 2016 Best Paper Award by the Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine. The paper which is entitled 'Biocompatibility of calcium phosphate bone cement with optimised mechanical properties: an in vivo study' is the culmination of an Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPSRC) funded research project which examined the development of effective treatments for burst fractures of the spine.
