School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Celebrates Success at InQUBate 2023
Two students from Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Students had the opportunity to pitch their innovative business ideas to a panel of experts at the InQUBate Awards, 2023.
Maebh Reynolds and Eray Kayar took centre stage to pitch their entrepreneurial vision to a panel of experts at the InQUBate awards. This vision was cemented when Maebh, a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate, won one of the top awards of the night for her pitch on Gopluggable.
Maebh's entrepreneurial journey has been nothing short of impressive, as her greentech startup, GoPlugable, is already being called the "Airbnb of electric vehicle charging”. Maebh is dedicated to helping facilitate change by promoting the adoption of electric vehicles. Her app links people with electric vehicles to secure home charging locations. We’re sure she’ll continue to go from strength to strength
Although he didn’t walk away with a top prize on the night, Eray Kayar also made an impressive pitch for “Mecha Technology”, an automated stampede prevention system. Mecha integrates an AI-powered flow monitoring system, a controller and splitter airbags to ensure safe evacuation to save lives, especially at indoor music venues.
The pitches were made as part of the high-profile InQUBate launch attended by senior Queen's University leaders including the DVC Professor Stuart Elborn, Director of Innovation Brian McCaul, and Queen’s Pro-Chancellor Orla Corr.
This exceptional achievement underscores not only the individual success of our students in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering but also our entrepreneurial spirit. The presence of two standout pitches at the InQUBate awards showcases the depth of talent and innovation thriving within our community.
