Mamas in Harmony
Are you a new mum with a baby 4 months or under? Do you like music, meeting other mums and drinking tea/coffee? Mamas in Harmony is a study run by Queen’s University Belfast.
We want to try out a new group music class called Mamas in Harmony with new mums and babies. We want to find out if the classes might help mums and babies bond, give support to mums and help with their wellbeing. We’re looking for mums who have a baby that is 4 months of age or under.
One group will receive usual care offered by Health and Social Care (HSC) services in Northern Ireland, provided by their community midwife, GP and health visitor.
The other group will receive the same usual care but also be offered eight weekly Mamas in Harmony sessions lasting 1 hour.
Please read our Participant Information Sheet for further details.
The study involves a telephone call with one of our research team, then completing an online or postal questionnaire which will take no more than 25 minutes.
You will then be randomly allocated to one of the two groups – usual care or Mamas in Harmony and usual care.
We ask that you complete two further questionnaires 3 months and 6 months later.
As a thank you for taking part, we will send you an Amazon giftcard after you have completed the final questionnaire.
You will also be offered the opportunity to be considered for participating in an interview to tell us about your experiences and opinions of the research study.
Mamas in Harmony is a PhD study supervised by Queen’s University Belfast (QUB). Ethical approval has been gained from Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences Research Ethics Committee at QUB (MH 22_168).
