LGBTQ+ Network for Nursing and Midwifery Academics
Project Title | LGBTQ+ Health Network for Nursing and Midwifery Academics |
Research Focus |
Findings from the study ‘Making the Invisible Visible: the inclusion of LGBTQ+ health and concerns within nursing and midwifery pre-registration programmes’ support the need to develop and enhance the curriculum for LGBTQ+ health content in nursing and midwifery pre-registration programmes. Academics asked for support and tools to develop and integrate LGBTQ+ health content within education programmes to improve the experiences of LGBTQ+ people when accessing healthcare. The QUB School of Nursing and Midwifery are leading the way in this area and further funding from the Burdett Trust for Nursing and Queen’s University Belfast has been received to establish a new and innovative LGBTQ+ Health network for nursing and midwifery academics. Subsequently, a new ‘LGBTQ+ Health Network for Nursing and Midwifery Academics’ has been launched, one of the recommendations arising from the research study. |
