Research Interests
Open to PhD applications in the field of
- Biomaterial design, synthesis and characterisation
- Host-material inflammatory response (cell biology)
- Microbiological evaluation of biomaterials (bacterial biofilm formation)
Current Research Opportunities
Public outreach & key achievements
- In collaboration with Dr Chi Wai Chan (School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, QUB) we have been the first to demonstrate the antimicrobial activity of laser-modified titanium alloy surfaces
- Our work has been funded by the Royal Society, EPSRC, and the Society for Applied Microbiology
