Language at Work: Queer and Feminist Language and Translation
On Thursday 28 March 2019 Dr Michela Baldo (Honorary Fellow in Translation Studies, University of Hull) gave a talk on feminist and queer language, dealing with how gender and sexuality is represented in our language choices.
She also considered translation of such language choices, giving examples from Italian, Spanish, French and other languages.
As a translator, activist and researcher, Dr Baldo provides a professional and expert opinion on the important relationship between gender/sexuality and linguistic practice and policy.
(Language at Work is an AEL-sponsored series of events designed to help students identify and develop their language skills, considering research and real-world applications. This event was jointly sponsored by Language at Work and the School's SWAN initiative).
