Zoë Backwell, a recent alum of the MA in Media and Broadcast Production, has just won a SMEDIA (Student Media) award, an honour bestowed on the best media work being produced in student media across the island of Ireland. Zoë's documentary "Monkey On Your Back," which is about eco-anxiety & climate change, won in the "Environmental Protection Agency Award: Journalism Relating to the Environment" category. The documentary started out as an MA dissertation at QUB. The award category was judged by Kevin O'Sullivan (Irish Times environment editor). Zoë beat out four others on the shortlist to win the award.
