Dr Franziska Schroeder has gone post-internet and post-meme with VR composition/installation Mirage
Dr Franziska Schroeder has gone ‘post-internet and post-meme’ with her recent collaborative VR composition/installation “Mirage” - selected as part of the prestigious Ars Electronica 2020 Festival.
Mirage was created through several physically distant recorded performances in July/August between Franziska Schroeder (saxophone), composers Carlos Guedes and Leonid Kuzmenko (based in Abu Dhabi and Dubai). These remote recordings led to the design of an 8 channel listening environment, implemented in Unity for Ars Electronica's Virtual Sound Campus.
Screened at Sound Campus section of the Ars Electronica Festival 2020 in a virtual space!
And yes - the listener inhabits the body of a purple teddy bear !!!
