I am open to PhD applications in the field of Irish diaspora history; migration history since c.1800; gendered approaches to Irish religious history since c.1800; urban history.
Public outreach & key achievements
Awarded the ACIS Lawrence J. McCaffrey Prize for Books on Irish America (2023) for 'Forging Identities in the Irish World: Melbourne and Chicago, c.1830-1922' (Edinburgh University Press, 2022). Sophie is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and Secretary of the Ulster Society for Irish Historical Studies.
