+ PRE-SHOW TALK BY CHRISTOPHER FITZ-SIMON
Laurence Olivier won an Oscar for his portrayal of Hamlet in this 1948 film version of Shakespeare’s most highly regarded play, but he had previously been directed by Sir Tyrone Guthrie (a former Chancellor of Queen’s) in a stage production for the Old Vic.
Christopher Fitz-Simon, a former director of the Abbey Theatre, will present his talk “Tyrone Guthrie & The Shakespeare Revolution,” offering fresh (and sometimes startling) new insights into his work with Olivier and Alex Guinness who he also directed in Hamlet.
