Much of the discourse of audiences draws from Western approaches to build and retain existing audiences while giving attention to new, more diverse, and emerging audiences for cultural work.

In this talk, Andrea Dempster Chung will draw on her experience in Kingston Creative of the realities and priorities of developing audiences in downtown Kingston; considering what is meant by audience for contemporary non-Western cultural organisations. Kingston Creative is a NGO whose mission is to transform Downtown Kingston through the arts.
