The interactive VR experience has been described as a bodyswap, referred to as a Body Transfer Illusion in neuroscientific research laboratories. BeAnotherLab began its prototyping in 2012 in Barcelona to make this incredible experience available to the public.
The project intersects the fields of performance, visual art, sociology, anthropology, conflict transformation, media, technology and neuroscience.
'The Machine' allows individuals to experience the world through the eyes and body of another person. By combining virtual reality, cognitive sciences, and performance art, the system enables users to perceive themselves in a different body while moving and interacting with realistic tactile feedback with others in space.
This event will introduce 'The Machine' via a short presentation. Then participants will be invited to try the interactive VR in pairs. These duo experiences last around 7-10 minutes. The event will conclude with a discussion about the shared perceptions and sensations of the experience amongst the group.
