Sound artist Stuart Fowkes will present one of the world's biggest sound projects, Cities and Memory, discussing the project and some of the questions and issues it raises around the role sound can play, and the impact of field recording and sound art. The project aims to "remix the world, one sound at a time", and covers more than 110 countries with 6,000 sounds and more than 1,500 artists taking part from all over the world, and has focused on everything from the sounds of prayer, protest and nature to soundscapes from the Covid-19 lockdowns and Antarctic ocean life. The presentation includes demonstrations of field recordings and compositions from across the project.
