Our Women and Minority Gender Leadership Programme aims to upskill EEECS staff and postgraduate students with the knowledge, behaviours and relationships necessary to develop their leadership with confidence and success.
This is a 2.5-day programme developed in partnership with the William J Clinton Leadership Institute. During the programme, participants receive a personal Insights Discovery™ report to help them better understand how they think, behave and communicate, before going on to explore what this might mean for team-working, professional growth and leadership.
Following a successful pilot in 2017/18, the programme has become an annual event at EEECS for women and minority gender staff and postgraduate students. It continues to receive excellent feedback from participants each year.
Our PhD Teaching Apprenticeship programme aims to encourage women and minority gender PhDs at EEECS to enter into academia. The need for this programme was identified following a survey of our PhDs, which indicated that they wanted formal training in teaching and opportunities to lecture within the School during the course of their research.
This programme includes:
- Academic Mentoring
- Teacher Training
- Experience in the Delivery of Lectures
- HEA Associate Membership
Through the delivery of the Teaching Apprenticeship programme, we aim to upskill and empower our PhD students with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to prepare them for entry into academic roles.
