Mrs Margaret Marr

My current role is as Clerical Officer within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) supporting students, academics and school management with all things administrative – from exam board arrangements, to minute taking, answer general office enquiries and meet’n’greet at the General Office window for ad hoc in-person enquiries.
I’ve come full circle since my own degree at Liverpool John Moores University where I studied Applied Statistics with Computing which enabled me to have a thirty-year career in operations management, before shifting gears on life-work balance, securing my position here at Queen’s in January 2023, where I hope to stay until retirement!
I am glad to not be a student now (as the old brain has slowed down) and instead am enjoying being on the other side recording results and proudly hitting the button for each student’s degree classification.
I really enjoy the cyclical nature of the university life, which is reassuring with a good mix of spontaneity, with each day being different in terms of enquiries or events taking place within the school – including giving out table tennis bats or pool cues or building Lego!!!
Outside of work I am a proud grand-pawrent to a 2-year-old Edward (Border Collie) which keeps us busy at weekends as our daughter loves leaving him with his nannies for a sleepover!
