EDI Committee
Formed in November 2023, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee is chaired by the School's EDI Champion, Dr Ivor Spence. The EDI Committee reports to the School's Management Committee, on which the School EDI Champion sits, and has been established for the following purposes:

Promote Diversity and Inclusion
The committee will work towards creating an inclusive environment that embraces diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, and socio-economic background. We aim to cultivate an atmosphere that values and respects every individual, encouraging their full participation and contribution within the School of EEECS.
- Advocate for Equality
The committee will actively support equality of opportunity, fair treatment, and representation within our community. By identifying and addressing any barriers or biases that may exist, we will strive to create an environment where all members have an equal chance to excel, thrive, and reach their full potential.
- Address Concerns and Issues
The EDI Committee will serve as a platform for staff and students to raise concerns, provide feedback, and discuss matters related to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We will listen attentively, ensure confidentiality, and work collaboratively to address issues that arise, fostering an environment of trust and support.
- Develop and Implement Initiatives
The committee will propose and implement proactive initiatives that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within the School. These initiatives may include training programs, workshops, awareness campaigns, mentorship opportunities, or any other activities aimed at enhancing understanding, awareness, and appreciation of diversity.
