Machine learning for Big Data?

As part of an event entitled "Machine learning will solve all our big data problems. Or will it?" on October 18th, a panel of experts including Chris Johnston (Adoreboard), Brian Murphy (BrainWaveBank), Alastair McKinley (Analytics Engines) and Aaron Falloon (Bazaarvoice) debated if machine learning would solve all our big data problems.
The event was organised by Dr Anna Jurek and Prof. Ji Ming from the Electronics and Computer Engineering cluster and was part of Big Data Week.
Some of the topics that were discussed included risks related to advancing AI/machine learning technology, privacy and openness of data, human involvement in AI systems and the issue of responsibility and liability of such a technology.
The event was attended by over 100 attendees from both industry and academia.
