Dr Jonathan Browning, one of our Lecturer (Education) teaching staff, has received high commendation in the Rising Star category at the 2024 National Enterprise Educator Awards (NEEA). The awards are a significant annual event, celebrating the achievements of educators who are driving forward enterprise and entrepreneurship education in the UK. Jonathan’s commendation highlights his contributions to promoting entrepreneurial learning and fostering a culture of enterprise among students, whilst in an early career stage. His work has been instrumental in equipping our students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions.
The National Enterprise Educator Awards, established to honour excellence in the field, were presented as part of the International Enterprise Educators Conference (IEEC), the leading event for enterprise and entrepreneurship educators, which this year was held at the Business School in Queen’s University Belfast. Each year, the NEEA recognises educators who have made a significant impact on students’ entrepreneurial journeys, often through experiential learning, innovative teaching methods, and effective mentorship. Jonathan’s commendation places him among the top educators in the country. His work has not only transformed his student’s experience but has also contributed to the broader goals of promoting economic growth and social mobility through education. Jonathan’s approach to teaching enterprise has led to notable success stories among his students.
The 2024 awards featured a diverse group of finalists from universities, further education institutions, and other organisations that champion enterprise education. Jonathan's recognition is a testament to the impact he has made in a highly competitive field, where educators are continually pushing the boundaries of how entrepreneurship is taught and experienced. The commendation was received with great pride by his colleagues.
