Hedgehogs, Snails, and Goats, Oh My! A Pawsome Induction Finale
EEECS Welcome Week featured a campus treasure hunt exploring key university spots, followed by a special petting zoo where students bonded with hedgehogs, snakes, and Billy the goat, creating a fun start to university life
Before we unleashed the cuteness of the petting zoo, students got to experience the thrill of our "Race Across the University." This exciting adventure had teams trekking across campus, stopping at some of the university's coolest spots, like the Queen's Film Theatre, the McClay library CS Lewis Reading Room, and the brand new Reboot gaming café. At each stop, staff members were there to welcome them with smiles, school merch, and plenty of goodies to keep the energy high. It was an action-packed way for students to explore their new home and discover some hidden gems, all while bonding with teammates and stocking up on freebies!
As the grand finale of our Welcome Week activities we topped things off with a petting zoo to give students a truly pawsome experience! Undergraduates mingled with all kinds of creatures, from adorable hedgehogs to slow-and-steady snails, and even some cool, calm snakes that added a sneaky charm to the day. Billy the goat stole the show with his playful antics and beautiful voice!
This event wasn't just about the animals, though. It was about creating a relaxed, playful atmosphere where students could bond, share a laugh, and feel at home. It’s all part of making sure our new undergraduates feel connected, supported, and ready to jump into campus life with confidence.
Huge thanks to Kidz Farm for bringing all their amazing animals and the whole EEECS team who made induction so engaging and exciting.
Get ready for an amazing year undergraduates, welcome to EEECS! 🎉
