The Rachel Stanford Scholarship
"I realised that we needed to inspire more young women to try engineering...I also thought I should give something back to Northern Ireland and to Queen’s to encourage younger women here to enter the profession.” Rachel Stanford - Award Founder
We invite you to apply for the Rachel Stanford Scholarship for Emerging Leaders in Engineering and Computer Science
First launched in 2018 this award is supported by Queen’s alumna Rachel Stanford. Rachel (MEng 2008) established the award to support and encourage female students into STEM subjects.
The Scholarship of £1,500 will be awarded to a Year 1 female student who can demonstrate leadership and a commitment to promoting STEM subjects to female students.
Once selected as the successful student, eligibility for the award is dependent on achieving a 2:1 average or higher at the end of first year.
The successful student must also agree to engage with their former school to promote STEM subjects to female students.
“Rachel is a really inspirational female engineer and role model. I feel very privileged to be the inaugural recipient of the scholarship that she set up, as there are not many scholarships like this in engineering specifically for women.” Rebecca Russell
