Dr Richard Fitzpatrick (QUB): ‘The Ulster Settlers Database: a new digital resource for the study of the province and its people’
Richard Fitzpatrick is currently R. J. Hunter Research Fellow within the Institute for Irish Studies at QUB. His research focuses on establishing and building a database on Ulster’s settler population during the seventeenth-century plantation. This project is run in partnership with the Royal Irish Academy and Maynooth University’s Arts and Humanities Institute (MUAHI). He holds a BA in History & Anthropology and a PhD from Maynooth University, where his research focused on the Ryans of Inch, a Catholic landowning family from Tipperary (c.1600-1832). He held a John and Pat Hume Scholarship from Maynooth (2014-2018) and a Government of Ireland (IRC) Postgraduate Research Scholarship (2016-2018).
