Booklaunch of Thomas Drew and William Sharman Crawford
Prof Sean Connolly (QUB) will speak to launch these two books on politics and society in 19th-Century Ulster, with responses by the authors:
Sean Farrell, Thomas Drew and the Making of Victorian Belfast (Syracuse University Press). He is Professor of History at Northern Illinois University and has written widely on religion and popular politics in modern Ireland, including Rituals and Riots: Sectarian Violence and Political Culture in Ulster, 1784-1886 (2000) and The Irish in Illinois (2021).
Peter Gray, William Sharman Crawford and Ulster Radicalism (UCD Press). He is Professor of Modern Irish History and Director of the Institute of Irish Studies at QUB. His books include The Irish Famine (1995), Famine, Land and Politics: British Government and Irish Society, 1843-50 (1999) and The Making of the Irish Poor Law, 1815-43 (2009).
