Join Omar Dweik, HAPP MA student to discuss his book “Peace to Unity: A framework for Peace from Palestine to Israel”.
The events of recent weeks have highlighted the importance for peace between Palestine and Israel. The dominant peace proposition, the two-state solution, has not yielded results and entrenched animosity. Additionally, in an era marked by interconnectedness and the erosion of borders and traditional state models, it seems like a step backwards to follow the two-state narrative. For that reason, in this webinar, I will share my ideas on a confederate structure for Israel and Palestine The idea works with, rather than against the situation on the ground and is to my mind realistic and manageable. Having taken inspiration from the Belfast agreements (and other international documents), Queen’s University Belfast students and staff are well situated to drive new, fresh and impactful ideas to resolve the decades-old conflict.
