British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowships
Applications open for a fully funded three-year British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship award to outstanding early career researcher across any subject area in the humanities or social sciences.
This annual competition provides a fully funded three-year award to outstanding early career researcher across any subject area in the humanities or social sciences. In addition to funding salary costs for the fellow, this scheme also provides up to £6,000 annually for research expenses.
A key aim of this fellowship is to help develop the award holder’s curriculum vitae and boost their prospects of obtaining a permanent academic post. The primary emphasis is on the completion of a significant piece of publishable research, and the integration of the award holder into the community of established scholars within their field.
Eligible applicants will be within three years of the award of their doctorate (BA take the date of a successful viva voce examination as the relevant date. This must fall between 1st April 2020 to 1st April 2023). British citizens and any nationals from the EEA are eligible, regardless of where their doctorate was obtained. Applicants of any other nationality who have a doctorate from a UK university are also eligible.
This scheme operates a two-stage application process, with Outline Proposals due for submission by Wednesday 4th October 2023, all submissions require prior approval from the proposed host institution.
