PhD Community
Philosophy at Queen’s provides a dynamic and friendly research environment with a strong outward looking culture.
Our research is concentrated in three main areas:
- Moral and political philosophy (supervision from Tom Walker, Jeremy Watkins, Suzanne Whitten)
- Epistemology/ philosophy of science (supervision from Roger Clarke, Joe Morrison), and
- Philosophical theology (supervision from Joseph Diekemper).
For more details please read this Philosophy PhD Guidance
All our researchers share a commitment to discussion and collaboration both across these sub-disciplines and with those working in other areas. Doing so is strongly facilitated by our location in a multi-disciplinary School.
Our long running weekly philosophy and political theory seminar series, together with our philosophy visiting speaker series, gives research students regular opportunities to discuss their work with both their peers and more senior researchers in their field.
As part of the AHRC Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership there are opportunities for co-supervised doctoral work with staff from Durham, Newcastle and other partner institutions.
