This course aims to facilitate enhancements in coaching skills in the healthcare sector. This course is suitable for all providers of primary care including GPs, practice managers, dentists, pharmacists etc.

This programme was developed with the aim of having a significant impact on the Primary Care Federations’ mission; to provide continuing professional development for GPs and Health Care professionals working in a primary care setting, preparing future leaders for the Health Care sector. It was also expected to support the wider agenda of transforming the Health and Social Care provision within Northern Ireland and improving the provision of Primary Care outcomes for patients across Northern Ireland.
It introduces a variety of coaching tools, techniques, and approaches, providing a solid foundation in effective coaching practices. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to practice and refine their coaching skills, enhancing their ability to lead and support others effectively.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this programme, applicants must work in a primary care setting and have a primary degree or equivalent (read Selection Criteria for full requirements).

Several options will be displayed in the DAP and you should choose those listed below. Please note you will not be able to choose Strategic Management & Leadership in Primary Care at this point:

Applicants should note:
- It is essential that applicants complete the form fully leaving no sections blank, particularly within the sections requesting information about qualifications and employment history.
- All relevant qualifications including Undergraduate Degrees, Masters, and/ or any others which may be at an equivalent level. Please ensure that copies/photos of these are uploaded to the Direct Application Portal (DAP) as proof.
You also need to include specific text in the Additional Information box
- The title of the short course (module) you are applying for: “Coaching Skills for Leaders”
- The reasons for wanting to undertake the course and how your work experience fits within the criteria of the course.
- Confirmation that you can fully commit to the time required to undertake the course.
