The five-year dentistry degree programme at Queen’s University Belfast will help you build the professional behaviours, clinical operative skills, and confidence required to practice as a dental professional. During the programme you will develop a broad clinical experience on real patients, in a range of different clinical environments both within the dental school and in outreach placements.
View our coursesThe Centre for Dentistry at Queen's University has been responsible for delivering dental undergraduate education in Northern Ireland since 1920. The 5-year Queen’s University Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree programme is modularised. The curriculum is based on the requirements of the United Kingdom’s General Dental Council (GDC), designed to deliver all learning outcomes contained within the GDC document Preparing for Practice. The Safe Practitioner: A framework of behaviours and outcomes for dental professional education, which will replace Preparing for Practice as the curriculum document for all programmes of undergraduate dental education in the UK from September 2025.
Our aim as the only Dental School in Northern Ireland, and the provider of the significant majority of local Dental Foundation trainees, is to continue to produce high quality graduates to serve the local community.
We will continue our specific focus on ‘preparation for graduation’
