Welcome to the Centre for Medical Education
Established in 1835, the Medical School has a long tradition of excellent medical education which is constantly updated in response to developments in medical science and practice. In 1908 The Queen's University Belfast was established by award of its Charter, and with the Medical School at its core.
The Belfast Medical Students' Association was founded in 1886 and is now the oldest active student society at Queen's. It has played a considerable, and welcome, role in the development of the Medical School. Our students here at Queen's University, remain as part of a continuum which has survived successfully for more than one hundred and seventy-five years.
Our aim is to deliver a high-quality course utilising innovative teaching methods and best practice to create a supportive environment designed to enable students to achieve their personal and academic potential.
As medical practice changes, so to our course has changed to meet the challenges of 21st Century healthcare. We work closely with accrediting bodies such as the General Medical Council (GMC), Healthcare Trusts, General Practices and other various healthcare settings across Northern Ireland to provide our students with the best experiences possible.
