The Queen’s MBA Career Networking Event – ‘The Future of the Workplace and Career Planning’ is an excellent occasion for organisations, alumni and current MBA students to listen to a panel of experts covering a range of topics including industry insights and leadership challenges. There will also be an opportunity for business networking over a light buffet.

Beth McDougall – Recruitment Senior Associate - EY (Queen's MBA Alumnus)
Passionate and committed to inclusion for all individuals of all abilities, Beth is Co-Ability Lead for EY UK Student Recruitment as well as Deputy Co-Chair in the EY Ability Network, EY’s community network that celebrates and supports people of diverse abilities including disability, long-term health conditions and Neurodivergence. Focused on empowering diverse abilities in the workplace, Beth is an active advocate for Ability Inclusion, delivering awareness and education talks across the UK on accessibility in recruitment and wider workplace inclusion. Beth shares her own experiences navigating the workplace as a person with a disability and how the strengths and skills developed as a result of living with a disability, have allowed her to build her career and bring change
to workplace organisations. Having recently completed her MSc in Human Resource Management with Queens University Belfast, researching with a specialist thesis on diverse abilities in the Workplace, Beth continues to research Ability Inclusion in organisations whilst continuing to work on developing and encouraging best practice in this field.

Michael McQuillan – Chief Executive – Enterprise NI
Michael is Chief Executive at Enterprise NI. Previously he was Director of the Business Institute and the Centre for SME Development at Ulster University and was appointed as a Visiting Professor to the Ulster University Business School in 2010. An entrepreneur by background, Michael was involved in several businesses. Most notably, as co-founder of ‘The Streat’ coffee chain, he established the business in 1999, expanding it organically and then through franchising, leading to an acquisition by a major food distribution company in 2010. Michael is a Non-Executive Board Member of Invest NI and a member of the Governing Board of South Eastern Regional College. He was a Member of the Tourism Northern Ireland Board from 2013 to 2020.

David Surplus OBE – Managing Director - B9 Energy
The B9 Energy Group operates out of low emission offices in Larne, Northern Ireland. It is very much a community based business with exciting opportunities offered to local people. David is past Chairman of the MATRIX Sustainable Energy Advisory Panel in Northern Ireland and current Chairman of the North South Market Development Steering Group (NSMDSG) on waste management. He was awarded an OBE in the 2015 birthday honours list for “services to renewable energy especially in Northern Ireland”.
