Launch of NI Business and Human Rights Student Ambassador Programme 2022-2023
Applications are now open for the fourth cohort of the ‘Business and Human Rights Student Ambassador Programme’ in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Business and Human Rights Forum.
On 20 February 2023, Queen’s Management School opened applications for the fourth cohort of the Business and Human Rights Student Ambassador Programme in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Business and Human Rights Forum.
The purpose of the Ambassador Programme is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to act as ambassadors to promote ethics and human rights within business during both their academic studies and future professional careers. The Ambassador Programme is open to students at any level from across Queen’s University.
Through a series of three interactive workshops, students will cover a diverse range of topics including ‘Becoming a Responsible Leader’, ‘Making Difficult Decisions’, and ‘Managing Challenging Conversations: Advocating for Yourself and Others’. The Ambassador Programme will conclude with a student-led event in Summer 2023 focused on raising the profile of human rights within business.
Dr Laura Steele, Director of Ethics, Responsibility, and Sustainability at the Management School said:
"The School has a longstanding commitment to addressing human rights issues within business. This is reflected in our teaching and research, as well as extra-curricular and civic engagement activities.
"We established the Student Ambassador Programme in 2019 to bring together staff and students from across the University with representatives from the Northern Ireland Business and Human Rights Forum. It has proved to be an extremely rewarding experience for everyone involved.
"In 2023, we will be placing an emphasis on business and human rights in an increasingly volatile, complex, and uncertain world. This will include addressing topics such as the impact of climate change, disruptive technologies, and increasing conflict within and between nations."
Applications must be submitted through this form and will close on Friday 17th March 2023 at 5pm.
