Queen's Business School launch new undergraduate course MAcc Advanced Accounting with Placement.
Queen's Business School is delighted to launch a new undergraduate course MAcc Advanced Accounting with Placement – a highly significant development for students and the accountancy profession.
Building on and replacing the existing BSc Accounting programme, the new integrated course combines undergraduate and Master’s-level study in a single four-year course that is unique in the UK and Ireland in offering:
- A Master’s-level qualification with undergraduate fees in all four years;
- Exemption from Chartered Accountants Ireland CAP1 and CAP2 exams and maximum permitted exemptions from other professional bodies;
- Paid work-based placement together with a work-related research project;
- An alternative exit point after three years with students awarded BSc Accounting.
Programme Director, Brenda Clerkin said: “We have developed this unique new undergraduate course in response to changes in the accountancy profession – not just for the accountants of today but also for the accountants of the future.”
Queen's Business School consulted extensively with employers to help ensure a pipeline of qualified and skilled graduates.
Welcoming the new course, Laura Jackson, Partner at BDO NI commented: “There is an incredible demand for chartered accountants with their professional qualifications. This new course is a game-changer for students and employers because we will have more students ready with more exemptions at an earlier stage of their career.”
The MAcc Advanced Accounting with Placement programme launches in September 2024 and is now open for UCAS applications from September 2023.
