Data Duo Mentoring for Students
Data Duo Mentoring at Queen's Business School brings together MSc Business Analytics students and business professionals to develop mutually beneficial partnerships, shaping leaders in business analytics.
Develop a meaningful mentoring partnership with an experienced business professional to help you start making your mark on the working world. Get advice on developing your career, building a professional network, and understanding industry.
Building relationships whilst you are still a University student can lead to potential employment opportunities once you graduate.
Seize the chance to stand out from the crowd.
The increase in the volume, variety, and velocity of data creates opportunities for businesses to improve decision making and develop new data driven products and services. However, industry reports show a global shortage of data science expertise and a lack of understanding in how to utilise data to business advantage.
As an MSc Business Analytics student, you are learning to use cutting edge and industry standard tools and techniques, developing expertise in end-to-end business analytics solutions and using data for decision-making purposes.
You can offer a professional the opportunity to tap into your skillset and better understand how to leverage business data.
Show a prominent professional your talent for business analytics.
Expectations
Each mentoring relationship will be two-way, so that both partners benefit. A mentoring cycle will last three months.
To ensure that this is an efficient programme that fosters a culture of learning and development for all partners, we set three clear expectations:
-
- Partners meet five times throughout the programme, for a minimum of 30 minutes per session. This can be virtually or in-person.
- Partners adhere to expected roles and responsibilities, as outlined in the Data Duo Mentoring handbook.
- Partners utilise provided documents to clearly outline goals and objectives, the implementation of actions points, and progress reviews.

The 2024 cohort of the programme is now complete.
