SSESW Expertise Informs New NICCY Report
Research by our Centre for Children's Rights (CCR) informed a new report from the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY), entitled ‘A New and Better Normal’, which explores the experiences of children and young people during the COVID-19 pandemic. The report also draws heavily on results of the 2020/21 Kids’ Life and Times (KLT) and Young Life and Times (YLT) surveys, where questions on the COVID-19 pandemic were asked of Primary 7 children (KLT) and 16 year olds (YLT) on behalf of NICCY. These annual surveys are undertaken by ARK, a centre hosted jointly by the School of SSESW and Ulster University. The full CCR report is available at A New and Better Normal. Its themes are: adequate standard of living; health; education; social and personal development and recreation; family, home life and alternative care; safety; participation and information; and youth justice.
