Dr Eleni Kamenou
Dr Eleni Kamenou embarked on her educational journey at the University of Thessaly in her native Greece, where she pursued studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering. With dedication and academic prowess, Eleni successfully earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in 2019. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Queen’s University Belfast, where she continued her academic voyage, dedicating herself to a Ph.D. program within the esteemed Centre of Secure Information Technologies (CSIT).
Throughout her Ph.D. years, Eleni delved deeply into extensive research within the domains of computer vision and deep learning. Her work encompassed diverse areas, including re-identification, visual modality fusion, and domain generalization, with a steadfast focus on applications crucial to safety and security.
Currently, Eleni's research interests span a wide spectrum within the field of artificial intelligence. Among the array of subjects that captivate her, she has a particular passion for validating AI systems, placing a specific emphasis on applications within Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing (NLP). Her research endeavours are firmly rooted in the pursuit of establishing both the robustness and explainability of these systems, thereby elevating their reliability and practical utility in real-world contexts.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Eleni finds joy in immersing herself in the world of visual arts, traversing the globe to explore new cities and cultures, and engaging in outdoor activities amidst the tranquillity of nature.
