Climate Change and the UN SDGs in Construction

This lecture will explore how civil and infrastructure engineers and other built environment professionals, can better support delivery of the UN SDGs . Our industry can directly address some of the biggest challenges facing the water, energy and transport sectors by providing affordable and resilient solutions amid the climate crisis.
Speaker Bio:
Wendy is the Director of ICE regions for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), with responsibility to implement the ICE’s business plan and key strategies to ensure the ICE vision, core purpose and objectives are delivered globally. Wendy is a qualified Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Structural Engineer and Fellow of ICE with almost 40 years’ experience of the civil engineering industry working with public and private sector clients and membership organisations.
As Director of ICE regions in the world's leading civil engineering institution, Wendy supports the retention and engagement of ICE’s global membership. She works with members building relationships with regional stakeholders and policy opinion formers to provide insights and influence on policy development and delivery of lifelong learning.
Wendy is a Queen’s University graduate; she was awarded an OBE in the Queens Honours in 2012 and an Honorary Doctorate in 2017 in recognition of her career in civil engineering and as a role model for diversity in the profession.
