International Women's Day 2025

Forthcoming Naughton Gallery Exhibition – IN GOOD COMPANY: Portraits of Queen's Women

Colleagues are invited to the Naughton Gallery on Friday 7 March from 2.00pm for the public launch of 'IN GOOD COMPANY: Portraits of Queen’s Women', a landmark exhibition celebrating the vital and diverse contributions of women at Queen’s University.

Presented as part of International Women’s Day, the University’s 180th anniversary, and QGI’s 25th year, In Good Company is both a tribute and a statement – affirming the essential role of women in shaping the University’s past, present, and future.

This exhibition runs until Sunday 23 March. The Naughton Gallery is open daily, from 11.00am to 4.00pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Featuring a specially commissioned series of watercolour portraits by internationally renowned Irish artist Laura Callaghan, the exhibition highlights just some of the remarkable women who shape Queen’s today – pioneering academics, dedicated support staff, inspirational leaders, and tireless advocates.

Selected through an open call inviting nominations from staff and students, the 15 women represented in this project reflect the breadth of contributions made by both Academic and Professional Services staff across the University. Now part of the University Art Collection, these portraits ensure a lasting legacy of recognition, placing these women firmly in the spotlight and honouring their invaluable impact on Queen’s.

The 15 portraits celebrating the remarkable contributions of Queen's women will be unveiled at a special event on 7 March and shared with the wider University community soon.
