National recommendations for the management of children and young people with IgA Vasculitis
The first ever UK guidelines for childhood IgA Vasculitis, complete with rare disease methodology
A group of experts with experience managing IgA Vasculitis have come together to publish national recommendations to support clinical management in children and young people.
IgA Vasculitis usually affects children affecting from 1/4,800 children compared to 1/ 1 million adults (OrphaNet 09/10/24). Most children affected by IgA Vasculitis fully recover, however serious complications can include chronic kidney disease. In children 1-2% of those affected by IgA Vasculitis will have kidney disease, with ~10% of people with adult onset disease experiencing kidney complications. These rare disease guidelines represent an important step supporting evidence-based clinical management for children with IgA Vasculitis.
