Christopher is currently a PhD student. His masters project was investigating the specific energy absorption and densification of additively manufactured composite hexagonal and re-entrant honeycombs under compression. He continued this interest in composites and is currently studying a PhD to research new high damage tolerant CFRP composite materials for High Altitude Long Endurance UAV’s. This involves experimentally investigating ways to increase the fracture toughness and CAI properties of thin laminates using techniques such as fibre bridging and selective ply level hybridisation.
