Dr. Mohammed Asmael is a Lecturer at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a member of the Advanced Composites Research Group at Queen's University Belfast, UK. He earned his PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), completed in 2015, following a Master's in Engineering specializing in Mechanical-Advanced Manufacturing Technology from the University Technology Malaysia (UTM) in 2009 and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Bright Star University Brega-Libya in 2004. Additionally, he serves as a board member of the Nanotechnology & Multifunctional Structures Research Centre (NMSRC) and Electrical Vehicle Development Centre (EVDC) at Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus. Dr. Asmael's academic journey includes roles at Eastern Mediterranean University, where he served as an Assistant Professor until September 2023, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, actively participating in various committees, and supervising MS and PhD candidates. Prior to that, he engaged in full-time postdoctoral research at UTHM from 2015-2017. Beyond academia, Dr. Asmael demonstrates his contributions through involvement in numerous research grants, focusing on the effects of rare earth additives on alloys' microstructure and mechanical properties. His diverse spectrum of research interests covers the casting of metals, welding, metal forming, aluminium and magnesium alloys, thermal analysis, solidification, microstructure, mechanical properties, advanced manufacturing processes, natural fibre, and composite structures, and extends to areas such as joint of polymers, friction stir process dissimilar materials, ultrasonic welding, polymers and nanoparticles enforcement of polymer, adhesive, and adhesion.
