Lindsey West
Queen's University Belfast
Lindsey works on the Horizon Europe funded PERMAGOV project, which sets out to contribute to the European Green Deal by improving implementation and performance of EU marine policies related to marine biodiversity, marine litter, marine energy, and maritime transport.
Lindsey joined QUB in October 2023 after completing her PhD (2020-2023) in Biodiversity Management at the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology, University of Kent.
Her doctoral research explored human-ocean relationships in the context of participation in and support for community-led marine biodiversity conservation and governance in Tanzania. She focused on environmental values, individual and collective identities, and place dependency as a way of understanding how and why individuals and communities cooperate to conserve marine and coastal resources.
