Dr John Bustard is the Director of QLAB at Queen's University. QLAB is located within the school of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. It is focused on developing advanced technology projects including virtual reality, robotics, data analysis and deep learning. It consists of a number of physical lab spaces equipped with advanced rapid prototyping tools. QLABs' greatest assets are its members who include academic staff and many of Queen's most capable engineering, computing, science and mathematics students.

Dr Bustard is a lecturer within Queen's School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, his research focuses on computer vision, machine learning, computer graphics and professional ethics.
