Arriving in Belfast
We're looking forward to welcoming you to Queen's University Belfast.
We will be providing a welcome at Belfast City Airport on key dates for our new international students.
Below is some guidance for airport arrivals and we will direct you in getting to your accommodation if you are coming to Queen's before then.
New International Students Airport Welcome
The University has scheduled set meet and greet days to welcome you to Belfast and get your student journey off to a good start. Student Ambassadors will greet you at George Best Belfast City Airport on the following dates in September:
- Saturday 7 September (9am to 9pm)
- Sunday 8 September (9am to 9pm)
- Monday 9 September (9am to 9pm)
- Tuesday 10 September (9am to 9pm)
- Saturday 14 September (9am to 9pm
We will direct you to appropriate methods of transport to help you reach your onward destination (please note - we will direct you to a bus or taxi service, we do not provide this service).

The approximate cost of a taxi to Belfast City Centre with one of our approved taxi providers are as follows:
- Approximately £15.00 (including a £2 surcharge) from Belfast City Airport
- Approximately between £35.00 and £45.00 from Belfast International Airport
The approximate costs for Public Transport options are as follows:
- Approximately £8.00 for the bus
- Approximately £10.00 for the train

How long will my journey to Accommodation take?
The journey time from Belfast City Airport is around 15 minutes and from Belfast International Airport about 30 minutes.
- What should I do if I arrive outside of these dates?
If you are travelling outside of these dates, you will need to make your own way from the airport. This is very easy to do from both airports (Belfast City and Belfast International). We recommend taking a taxi, as this way your driver can take you exactly where you need to go.
Please note the approximate cost of a taxi to Belfast City Centre from Belfast City Airport with our approved taxi provider is approximately £15.00 (including a £2 surcharge) and from Belfast International Airport with our approved taxi provider is approximately £35.00. You can pay your taxi driver with a credit/debit card.
- I have specific access requirements and will need additional support. What should I do?
When completing our online form, please let us know how best we can assist you. If necessary, we can arrange a taxi to take you to your accommodation.
- How can I find a taxi?
There are private taxi companies in Belfast which offer airport collection services. It is best to book these services in advance.
For Belfast International Airport, you can use you can use Value Cabs or Belfast Airport Taxis. For Belfast City Airport, you can use Value Cabs.
