HELP AND SUPPORT

We're here to help you be safe and well.

Keep an eye out for online and offline scams, "get rich quick" schemes, and potential for criminal activity such as theft or burglary.

We hope you won't experience any of these issues, but if you do, we have support options available for you.

Scam Awareness

Stay alert

Staying alert to scams can make the difference in protecting your wellbeing, finances, online and offline safety.

The International Student Support Team and SU Advice have lots of useful information on how to protect yourself from fraud and/or scams.

Blackbullion, the financial education specialists, in partnership with Queen's Students' Union, also have excellent resources on staying alert for scams.

Report & Support

We're here for you

Report and Support is our online reporting system. You can choose to report anonymously or choose to give your details to an adviser.

If you have been the victim of a scam, crime, including financial crime, please report this to the University and we can help signpost you to relevant support services.

All issues will be handled with confidentiality, and students also can report any form of sexual misconduct, hate crime, bullying, harassment, or online abuse.

Insurance

Look after your contents

If you are living in Queen's Accommodation, your items will already be protected through Endsleigh Insurance.

Students living in private halls of residence should check with their provider to see if any insurance schemes are in place.

If you are living in private accommodation, including the private rented sector, you may wish to consider taking out home contents insurance.

While we recognise this is an additional cost during a challenging time, insurance can also be a wise investment. Unfortunately, during financial crises, rates of crime, including burglary and theft can increase.

If speaking to any insurance providers, you may wish to:

  • Review key exclusions and limitations
  • Check your policy excess
  • Learn how to make a claim
  • Extend and personalise your cover to protect laptops, phones and other valuables
