Dr Ione Avila-Palencia
Research Fellow
Ione is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast. Ione’s academical background is in Environmental Sciences and Public Health. She did her PhD at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), working in an EU funded project about transport and health in European cities. She after did a Postdoc at the Urban Health Collaborative (Drexel University) working in the Salud Urbana en América Latina (SALURBAL) project looking the effects of physical urban features in health and environmental outcomes in Latin American cities. Her research is generally focused on health effects of urban design, transport and related exposures like air pollution and physical activity in cities. She is now working on SPACE WP1 creating a causal loop diagram and on WP2 and 3 helping to define the analysis plan.
