Ms Sophie Glover
PhD Student
Sophie recently completed a BSc in Human Biology at Queen’s University Belfast. Her interests are neurodegenerative disease and neurophysiology. She incorporated my interest in neurology and knowledge of urban planning to choose a SPACE research project for her third year dissertation. The dissertation involved reviewing recent evidence on urban green space and its capacity to reduce the risk of impaired cognitive health and Sophie enjoyed her dissertation experience as she examined not only types of green space but also gender differences and country income status, variables she found particularly interesting within research. Sophie's experience of working within SPACE during her dissertation led her to applying for a SPACE PhD which commenced in October 2022, where she will look at how the urban environment influences the epigenome in non-infectious disease.
