10/03/2025: Workshop: Iron Age and Roman Coins in Britain - Monday 10th March
The aim of the workshop is to look at the coinage and associated history of Britain from the Iron Age to the early Medieval / Anglo Saxon period. British tribes were minting coins for about 140 years before the Romans invaded in 43 AD. Roman coinage replaced the British coin and was in use until the Roman withdrawal in 407. Coinage was not minted in Britain during the subsequent so-called"dark ages" and only reappeared around 630 - 680 during the Anglo Saxon period.
