Let’s dive into the exciting world of internships. Barcelona is a fantastic destination for gaining practical work experience. Throughout my time in Barcelona, I worked for a company called Factorial HR where I made friends from all over the world and connections that will last a lifetime. On top of that, I expanded my professional network and resume.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for internships:

1. Research: Start by researching companies, organisations, and industries that align with your career goals. Consider your skills and interests to narrow down your options.
2. University resources: Use university resources like MyFuture where you can see what internships are available. You can also book a career appointment and get instant CV feedback on there.
3. Online Job Portals: Start using LinkedIn as many companies post their job openings on there. Indeed and Glassdoor are also excellent websites to look for job opportunities.
4. Networking: If you see on LinkedIn that a Queen’s student or alumni is working in a company that you are interested in, then don’t be afraid to message them. Linkedin is a great way to make connections.
5. Prepare Your Application: Craft a compelling CV and cover letter tailored to the specific internship you’re applying for. Ensure your LinkedIn profile is professional and up to date.
6. Apply: Start applying for internships well in advance of your desired start date. Be persistent and keep track of your applications.
7. Stay informed: Keep an eye on your email and respond promptly to interview requests and offers.

From paddle boarding on Barceloneta beach to marvelling at the architectural wonders of Gaudí and the iconic Sagrada Familia, there’s something for everyone. Barcelona is great place for foodies as they are renowned for their tapas bars.

If you’re a football fanatic, then you can cheer for FC Barcelona at Camp Nou! And don’t forget the many clubs, festivals and hidden speakeasies, Barcelona’s nightlife is legendary. Living in a new country has pushed me out of my comfort zone and expanded my knowledge in ways I didn’t think was possible.
